Az OECD-FAO hosszú távú projekciója alapján a világ juhhústermelése 14 százalékkal 17,2 millió tonnára emelkedhet 2029-re a 2017–2019 közötti évek átlagához viszonyítva. A fejlődő országok juhhúskibocsátása 16 százalékkal 13,4 millió tonnára bővülhet, míg a fejlett országokban ennél kisebb (+8 százalék) mértékű növekedést könyvelhetnek el. A globális juhhús-kereskedelem élénkülésére számítanak a szakértők a következő évtizedben: az export 7 százalékkal, az import 11 százalékkal emelkedhet.
