Az ázsiai sertésszektor (főképp Kína, Vietnám és a Fülöp-szigetek) a Covid–19- és az ASP-válság kettős hatása alatt szenved, aminek eredménye egy hatalmas sertéshúshiány. Brazília, az USA és kisebb mértékben az Európai Unió tavaly bővítették sertéshús-előállító kapacitásukat a Kínába irányuló exportjuk felfuttatásának reményében, ám ezt a számítást a koronavírus keresztbe húzta.
